Nursing Outreach Program at Selkirk College
Our program was created with the vision to provide accessible health care services that meets the complex needs of individuals that lack access to health services due to barriers and health inequities. This vision aligns with our values of accessibility and social justice. It is our intention to provide flexible, non-judgemental, and accessible outreach services. We hope to reduce the barriers and bridge the gap within the health care system and meet client needs. Outreach nursing is meant to provide services to individuals, but also to decrease pressures on the acute care system. Outreach also links and supports community agencies such as ANKORS, Salvation Army, Stepping Stones, Kootenay Christian Fellowship (Our Daily Bread) and the Friendship Clubhouse.
Outreach nurses are available from September to June on varying days. Our current schedule is as follows:
Wednesdays and Thursdays
10 – 11am Salvation Army
11 – 12pm Stepping Stones
12 – 1pm Our Daily Bread
1:30 – 2:30pm Friendship Clubhouse
2:30 – 3:30pm ANKORS
